Dringhouses Scout Group, York - about

Dringhouses PC Scout Group was first founded in 1939. After a break the group reformed in 1965 and has been running for 49 years.
Here at Dringhouses Scout Group we currently have over 180 youth members enjoying adventurous activities almost every day of the week supported by a team of 30 adult volunteers from occasional helpers to qualified leaders and committee members.

Each term we provide an interesting and active programme.  This includes outdoor activities such as camping, climbing, pioneering, cycling, navigation & map reading and astronomy as well as indoor activities including games, arts and crafts.

Each year the whole Group camps together in the summer term; taking part in a wide range of activities typically over a long weekend. Our Group is also a regular attendee at the National Scout Car Races where the Cubs and Scouts get the chance to race in our Group Pedal Cars against Cubs and Scouts from all over the country.

At Dringhouses we believe investing in all our members is very important and we take part in various educational development activities such as trips to the local fire station to learn first hand about fire safety, we also teach the Green Cross Code, how to be safe around the railways and cycle safety and security. We also train all our members in basic First Aid with the option for older members to train to a higher level.
