18th March 2016 – Scouts go on winter camp.  Three minibuses descend on Bramhope Scout Campsite for the weekend and bring back some very happy, if not dirtier Scouts.

6th March 2016 – Beavers and Cubs took part in the annual chess competition with one of our Cubs winning his age group.  A fun competition for all Groups in the City of York.

23rd January 2016 – We hosted the annual Hergarth Challenge, as our HQ is being renovated, Copmanthorpe were kind enough to let us use their building.  Lots of Groups from across the District took part and demonstrated their creative talents.

9th January 2016 - Cubs Family Winter Hike, an 8 mile circular walk out of Market Weighton.  Snow was forecast, but never materialized, but it was rather damp underfoot.  We found two Geocaches as well.

8th December 2015 – Carol singing with local Middlethorpe residents, Beaver and Cubs got to try out their singing voices.

22nd November 2015 – Wild About Chemistry at Snowball Plantation.  Beavers, Cubs and Scouts spend the day learning about the chemical reactions that happen all around us… every day, and had fun at the same time!

5th November 2015 – The annual bonfire and fireworks at snowball plantation, well attended again.  Great fun and a good time to invest some Beavers and Cubs.

16th October 2015 - Award winners from all sections go to the Guildhall to receive their certificates from the Lord Mayor of York.  Well done everyone!

10th October 2015 - Cubs & Scouts join in with the York City shooting competition at Snowball plantation.  With one of our Scouts taking home a trophy.  All participants had a good time though.

3rd October 2015 - Beavers, Cubs and Scouts take part in the York City Archery competition at Snowball plantation.

 

13th September 2015 – Cubs and families take part in a picnic and rounders game. Some parents hadn’t played rounders since they were kids themselves and they had as much fun as the Cubs, if not more!

 

1st August 2015 – Cubs Summer Family Hike:  An 8 mile walk around the Crackpots Mosaic Trail near Rippon.  Some tired little legs by the end, but a nice refreshing drink later and it’s all good!

10th July 2015 – District Cub camp at Squirrel Wood Scout Campsite.  A knights of the round table themed weekend with loads of activities and a feast at the end.  A great weekend filled with fun!

3rd July 2015 – National Scout Cars Races at Blackpool.  Cubs, Scouts and Explorers travel to the beach to take part in the National Scout Cars Races.  A lovely day of racing….. bit cold for the beach though!

21st June 2015 – District Cubs it’s a knockout.  The annual competition is back.  Cubs had fun joining in the team and individual events.

12th June 2015 – Group Camp.  220 of our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Leaders and some parents go camping at Raywell Scout Camp Site. Loads of activities and the weather was mostly good too.  Great stuff!

30th May 2015 – All sections fundraising again, this time at York Races.  The racegoers were very generous and happy folks too.

16th May 2015 -  District Touch Rugby competition at Dunnington.  For many Cubs it’s their first go, the weather was great and everyone played well.

1st May 2015 - Older Cubs and Scouts camp together at Snowball Plantation, it’s the Cubs first taste of camping as a Scout.

 

26th April 2015 – All sections and leaders join in with Scouts and Guides from across York in the St George’s day parade through the city.

18th April 2015 - Cubs go to Snowball Plantation to join in with the York City camp cooking competition.  Cooking on an open fire in the outdoors.  Everyone had a great time.

28th March 2015 -  More fundraising at Sainsbury’s Fosse Islands Road this time, again trying to raise funds for the building renovations

Saturday 21st March 2015 - Cubs join in with the District Football competition at Copmanthorpe Recreation Grounds, experienced and inexperienced players alike braved the weather and had a great day.

Sunday 8th March 2015 - Beavers and Cubs took part in the annual City of York chess competition.  A great contest and lots of fun was had by all participants.

28th February 2015 - Cubs visit the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington.  We saw loads of aircraft got to go inside some and see the engines running as well. A great day out and a good way to get the Air Activities badge too!

31st January 2015 - Cubs from each pack take part in the annual Hergarth challenge at Copmanthorpe Scout HQ.  Saxons Cubs manages to win, so we’re hosting it next year.   Well do to all, it was a great competition this year and some really innovative work was seen.

11th January 2015 - Beavers and Cubs take part in the District round of the Chatterbox Challenge, a public speaking competition, with one of our Beavers making it through to the County round.  Everyone had fun and did really well to have a go!

10th January 2015 - Cubs winter hike, plan A was abandoned due to the high winds and poor weather, so a circular walk around Askham Richard took its place.  Five windy miles later all returned safely having has a fun walk

23rd December 2014 - all sections helped out with fundraising at Sainsbury’s Monks Cross, raising funds for the building renovations

6th December 2014 - Beavers join in the fun at the Beavers District Christmas party, they even had a “special” visitor from up north!

14th -16th November 2014 - 40 cubs from all packs descend on Thornthwaite Scout Campsite for a two day Pack Holiday, with loads of activities, both indoors and outdoors, for 9 cubs it was their first camp without a parent, everyone had a great time and returned home happy but very tired!

7th November 2014 - Recipients of the Chief Scouts Awards attend the presentations at the York Guildhall,
well done to everyone who gained the award this year!

6th November 2014 - The annual Group bonfire night held at Snowball Plantation, saw over 250 members and parents have a fun time singing around the campfire and watching fireworks and the rain held off until the end too!

18th October 2014 - The group round of the County Chatterbox Challenge for Beavers and Cubs (Scouts running a separate competition). All the Beavers and Cubs who took part in this public speaking competition did really well and managed to overcome their nervousness in front of the assembled audience, the winners now represent the Group at the District round in January.

11th October 2014 – Cubs, Scouts and Leaders take part in the City Snowball competition, we placed well with one of our Cubs gaining the highest score and another placed third and one of our Scouts coming third in their age group too. It was a fun day for all taking part.

4th October 2014 – Cubs form all three packs attended the District Swimming Competition, winning the under 10’s and under 8’s events.

4th October 2014 - City Archery Competition at Snowball Plantation Scout Campsite, attended by all sections. We all had a fun time and one of our Cubs came second in their age group. This is a great event and we hope it runs every year!

20th September 2014 – Vikings Cubs went to Snowball to practice for the up-coming Shooting and Archery competitions

23rd August 2014 – The summer family hike this year was an 8.5 mile hike to Carlton Bank from Swainby

2nd - 6th August - Scouts Summer Camp - Members from both Scout troops head up to the moors for an action packed week of climbing, hiking, cycling, kyaking and camping.

13th July 2014 – Cubs from al packs attend the District It’s A Knockout Day at Snowball Plantation, despite the heavy rain all had a grand time!

4th July 2014 – Cubs and Scouts take part in the National Scout Car Races in Manchester, lots of fun in the pedal cars on a hot weekend.

30th June 2014 – Sixers from all Cub packs attend the District Sixer Forum to discuss the future of Scouting in the Ebor district

29th June 2014 – Beavers visit Sundown Adventure Land for an exciting day trip

24th June 2014 – Friday Beavers win the Ebor District Challenge

13th June 2014 – All sections join in on a very successful Group Camp at Bramhope Scout Campsite

16th May 2014 – Both Scout Troops go on a weekend camp at Newark Air Museum and have a great time

2nd May 2014 – Senior Cubs attend the District Link-up Camp with Scouts to see what camping as a Scout is like

27th April 2014 - The whole group paraded with the rest of the York City Scouts and Guides at the St George’s Day parade.

5th April 2014 - All three Cub Packs took part in the York City Cooking competition, Romans Pack came first with some great sausages & mash!

29th March 2014 – Cubs and Beavers attended the City Science Day at York University and gained their Scientist badge

22nd March 2014 - All three Cubs Packs took part in the Ebor District Football competition, with Vikings finishing in second place

8th February 2014 - Scouts enjoyed the culinary challenge at the district cooking competition

8th February 2014 – Cubs had a successful time at the District basketball competition, with Vikings Pack winning the event and Saxons Pack making it to the semi-finals. 

26th January 2014 – Dringhouses Beavers join in and have a fun time at the Ebor District Bowling event at Clifton Moor.

25th January 2014 – Vikings Cubs come third in the Hergath Trophy (an annual District Event this year hosted by Dunnington Cubs)

4th January 2014 – Cubs and their families take part in a 5 mile walk around Skipwith Common.

10th December 2013 – Cubs and Scouts have a fun time at the Panto at Joseph Rowntree Theatre.

11th November 2013 – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts receive their Chief Scouts Awards at the Guildhall in York

7th November 2013 – Group fireworks night: young people from all sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Young Leaders as well as their families meet at Snowball Plantation for Campfire, songs, food and fireworks…. Thankfully it did not rain!

20th October 2013 – Cubs from Dringhouses packs take part in the international Jamboree on the Internet and Jamboree on the Air (JOTI/ JOTA) event at Companthorpe Shout HQ

16th October 2013 – Cubs from all packs take part in the County Cubs Quiz at Elvington Scout HQ, Vikings Cub pack come 4th in a very close contest

5th & 6th October 2013 – Cubs take part in a one night camp at Snowball, the first camp without their parents for some of the younger ones, a good time was had by all

28th September 2013 – Cubs take part in the district swimming competition at York Sport Village, Vikings pack came joint first with St Chad’s in the 8 year old age group and Romans came third overall

14th September 2013 – Group of leaders go caving, mainly to explore the potential of this activity has for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, all enjoyed the experience and are considering if young people might like to come along next time!

17th August 2013 – Cubs and their families take part in an 8 mile walk from Sutton Bank, we were lucky with the weather which closed in just as the walk finished, all had a good (if not a little tiring) time.

15th July 2013 – Beaver, Cub and Scout Leaders take part in the Dragon Boat races on the River Ouse in York, no one fell in and we didn’t come last…. Not a bad effort for our first time at this event

5-7th July – National Scout Cars Races and Camp, this time at the Darley Moor Race Circuit in Derbyshire over one of the hottest weekends of the year. We won six trophies and had good individual and team events. All had fun and enjoyed the relief provided by the mid-afternoon ice creams!

9th June 2013 – Group AGM and Barbeque- A good turn out of leaders and young people and their families. Awards and trophies presented and then it was BBQ time!

17th -19th May 2013 – Group Camp, this time we were at Bradley Woods Scout Campsite and all sections had a great time over the week end, with loads of activities, including: climbing, cave bus, back woods cooking, archery, shooting, pioneering and campfire songs. And it only really rained on the first night… phew! 173 people attended a record number!
